HARRINGTON, Del. - A Harrington man has been charged, after reportedly crashing into a Police vehicle, while apparently driving drunk.

Delaware State Police say early Sunday morning, around 1:35 AM, 47-year-old Thomas Lepera was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe on Railroad Avenue, when he sideswiped a fully marked Harrington Police Department 2009 Ford Crown Victoria. According to the report, the Hyundai continued driving before turning onto Commerce Street, and stopping, after the officer turned on his emergency equipment lights.

The Harrington Officer contacted DSP Troopers to investigate the crash, and found that Lepera was the only occupant of the vehicle. Police say they smelled alcohol, and conducted a DUI investigation, which lead to the arrest of Lepera.

He was found to have had three prior DUI convictions, making this his 4th DUI arrest. Lepera was charged with 4th offense driving under the influence of alcohol, and careless driving, and is now being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $4,025 bond.
