Va Tech Plans 7th Day Of Remembrance In April

Posted: Updated:

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia Tech will hold its annual run and other events to mark the seventh anniversary of a mass shooting at the school that left 33 dead.

April 16 marks the seventh anniversary of the shootings.

The university this week announced plans for the school's annual Day of Remembrance.

The commemoration begins at 12:01 a.m. on April 16 with the ceremonial candle lighting at the memorial, where the names of the victims will be read aloud.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will stand watch for the first and final 32 minutes of the day.

The Day of Remembrance will conclude when the ceremonial candle is extinguished at 11:59 p.m.

Virginia Tech also will host the 3.2-Mile Run in Remembrance in Blacksburg on April 12.
