Man Charged After Apparently Stabbing Brother In Fruitland

Posted: Updated:

FRUITLAND, Md. - A Fruitland man was arrested, after allegedly stabbing his brother, over money.

Fruitland Police say on Wednesday night, around 11:45 PM, officers responded to E. Cedar Lane for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they reportedly found the victim, with a single stab wound to his chest, along with the suspect, Jeron Mitchell Jr., the victim's brother.

The incident reportedly started as an argument about money. Police say they searched the home and found other, undisclosed, evidence. Mitchell was arrested, and charged with 2nd degree attempted murder, 1st degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Another occupant of the home, Laron Mitchell, apparently had an outstanding body attachment for child support related issues and was also arrested. The victim was taken to Peninsula Region Medical Center for treatment, and later released.

Both Mitchells were taken with the Wicomico County Detention Center, and released to the custody of Central Booking. Police say additional charges are pending.
