Two Vehicle Crash In Dover, Under Investigation

DOVER, Del. - Police are investigating a two vehicle crash in Dover, that sent two people to the hospital.

Delaware State Police say on Tuesday night, around 10:10 PM, 27-year-old William Vonbirgelen, of Townsend, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic on East Lebanon Road, when for unknown reasons he crossed over the center median, hitting a 2004 Volkswagon Passat. According to the report, both cars spun, before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway.

Vonbirgelen was reportedly wearing a seat belt, and was taken from the scene by EMS to Kent General Hospital, before being transferred to Christiana Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The driver of the Volkswagon was also wearing her seat belt, and was treated at KGH for non-life threatening injuries, before being released.

DSP say at this time the crash remains under investigation. East Lebanon Road was closed for two hours while officials investigated and cleared the crash.
