Pedestrian Task Force Makes Route One Safety Suggestions

Posted: Updated:

SUSSEX CO., Md. - Delaware's Pedestrian Safety Task Force has new recommendations to improve highway safety on Route One.

The recommendations include installing more street lighting, adding six new handicap accessible crosswalks, putting in bike-friendly rumble strips, and installing a continuous sidewalk from Five Points to the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal Bridge.

This safety push is the result of five pedestrian deaths, and 14 injuries along the Route One corridor from 2011 through August 2013.
