PRMC Changes Security Plans Once Again

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Two months after announcing plans to privatize hospital security, PRMC is once again changing their plans.  Hospital representatives tell WMDT they recently terminated their contract with private firm Securitas.

Instead PRMC is opting to move forward with a suggestion by Maryland State Police to train their security guards to become Special Police Officers, who can arrest and detain would-be criminals, but only on hospital property.

In a statement, PRMC said "Doing so will allow PRMC officers to function as one cohesive unit, with the same universal authority, while providing enhanced security and safety.

It is anticipated that each will soon become certified as Special Police Officers.  A rep from the hospital also said no layoffs will happen as result of this shift.

We're told training has already started, and is being provided by Pinkerton Security Services.
