DE Lawmaker Suggests Toll On Rt. 404

Posted: Updated:

SUSSEX CO., Del. - Representative John Atkins (D) doesn't want to see Delawareans shelling out extra cash for gas.

He has an idea to build revenue, without making First State residents pay. His suggestion is to put up a toll booth on Rt. 404 in Bridgeville. So, instead of taxing residents, those who are coming in from out of town would have to pay.

As of now, the rate thrown out into the air is $2. It has not however been suggested whether that would be for one or both ways on the road. Atkins would like to see that fee waived for First State residents.

This idea is still in the very preliminary stages, Atkins has not put in a formal proposal.
