Oshie's Shootout Goals Lead US Past Russia 3-2

Posted: Updated:

SOCHI, Russia (AP) - It may not have the kind of impact that the Miracle on Ice victory in 1980 had -- but the United States men's hockey team has once again beaten Russia at the Olympics -- this time, on Russian ice.

The two teams were tied after regulation play, and then after a brief overtime period, so it went into a shootout -- and the U.S. came out on top in that one-on-one competition, with four goals by T.J. Oshie. He plays for the NHL's St. Louis Blues.

International rules allow the same player to take multiple shots after the first three rounds of a shootout, and U.S. coach Dan Bylsma leaned on Oshie. The St. Louis forward went 4 for 6 against Sergei Bobrovsky.
