SMYRNA, Del. - Delaware State Troopers have charged three teenagers in connection with the armed robbery of a Smyrna liquor store which occurred last evening.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday, February 14th  at approximately 9:50 PM as two male suspects entered the Spruance City Liquors wearing ski masks with one suspect armed with a handgun and the other carrying a backpack. The suspects reportedly approached the 46-year-old male sales clerk located behind the sales counter. One suspect allegedly pointed the handgun at the clerk and demanded that he remove money from the cash register and put it inside of the backpack that the second suspect was holding. The clerk reportedly complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects allegedly fled the store on foot with the cash to a waiting vehicle located behind the store. Police say there were no injuries as a result of this incident.

Police say a general radio dispatch with information from the robbery was initiated by the State Police Communications Center, and shortly after a Smyrna Police Officer initiated a vehicle stop on a Nissan Sentra that was in the area. The Nissan was reportedly being operated by Branden Blackson, 19 of Smyrna, DE and occupied by Dylan Wilson, 18 of Smyrna, DE and Andrew Burns, 17 of Clayton, DE. Through further investigation, the Smyrna Police Officer was reportedly able to observe a backpack and ski mask inside of the car, matching the description from the robbery.

Police say all three were taken into custody without incident. After further investigation and interviews, Troopers were reportedly able to identify and connect the trio to the robbery. A subsequent search of the Nissan by Troopers allegedly revealed several articles of clothing and the backpack which contained the money connected to the robbery.

Police say all were charged with Robbery First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy Second Degree among other charges. Wilson was reportedly committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $23,500 Secured Bond, Blackson was committed to the same facility on $21,000 Secured Bond, and Burns was committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $36,000 Cash Bond.

Troopers say they continue to investigate and review the circumstances surrounding this incident.
