Salisbury Salsa Socials

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, MD.- Valentine's Day may be winding down, but one Salisbury group plans to keep the romance alive all year long.  Salisbury Salsa Socials is a local dance group that is taking steps toward connecting businesses and art in Salisbury, while giving people of all ages a safe and fun outlet to let loose on the dance floor.  The group, which came together in November of 2013, says they were looking for a place to dance on the Eastern Shore, instead of commuting all the way to D.C.  Now, the group connects with local businesses a couple times per month to host dance lessons to the community.

The events bring people into establishments they may have otherwise never visited.  Social chair of the group, Mimi Gedamu says "we go from venue to venue and some people have never been inside these places before and on their slow days we bring little crowd with us."

Pemberton Coffee House hosted a social last November and the owner says the event was a phenomenal success.  The classes are taught at a beginners pace, making it a great time for all ages and experience levels.

The next planned social is February 28, 2014, at the Art Gallery and Institute building located in Downtown Salisbury.  The group is ready to put Art In Motion and it's all PG! Purple and green that is, and they ask you to B.Y.O.Beads.

It will feature exhibits on the walls coming from local Elementary through High Schools, and all are asked to wear bright clothing to match the show.

Doors Open at 7:00pm, with a beginners salsa lesson from 7:15 - 8:00pm followed by open dancing from 8:00 - 10:30pm.

Admission is $10 online or at the door.  However, if you purchase your tickets online, you can enter to win 1 Month Free Admission to All Salisbury Salsa Social Events!
