Information Sought On Milford Armed Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Del. - Police say they are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a lumber store in Sussex County.

Milford Police say on February 9th, around 3:00 PM, a black male walked into the 84 Lumber store and demanded money from an employee. According to the report, the employee told the suspect that the register couldn't open without a purchase, so the suspect took store merchandise and provided his own money to the employee to buy the item.

Police say after a verbal dispute about the purchase, a brief struggle ensued between the employee and the suspect, during which the store employee was injured but able to get a baseball bat from the suspect. After the struggle, the suspect reportedly fled on foot from the store.

The store employee refused medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his late teens to early twenties, 5' 7" to 5' 9" tall, weighting 150 to 170 pounds. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Dwight Young or Det. John Horsman at 302-422-8081, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, or the Tipsubmit website.
