Fair Share Poultry Act May Not Stand A Chance In MD

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - The Poultry Fair Share Act may not stand a chance in Maryland, if it is up to Governor Martin O'Malley.

The bill could mean a five cent tax for each chicken that any poultry company supplies to any farmer in Maryland,  to generate money for the state's cover crop program, which helps address chicken waste produced on the Eastern Shore. However, O'Malley reportedly pulled it form house  consideration.

Now, a hearing is reportedly set for February 25th before the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee.
