Witnesses Testify In Eddie Savage Jr. Murder Trial

Posted: Updated:

"Calm down.  It's not worth it," those are what witnesses say were the last words Kenneth Sparks spoke before he was reportedly shot in the face by Eddie Savage Jr. last July in Delmar, MD.

Monday, a jury heard testimony from a number of witnesses in Savages murder trial.

Eddie Savage Jr. faces a number of charges for the shooting on Foskey Lane, including first and second degree murder.

Much of Monday was spent fleshing out, for the jury, the details of what happened at the home in Delmar that led up to the death of Kenneth Sparks.

According to witness testimony, a series of disagreements between Eddie Savage Jr., and the mother of his children, Tynise Sparks, regarding when they could be retrieved after a week at Savage's home.

Those disagreements, apparently grew into an argument at Savage's home, when Tynise, Joshua, and Joshua's parents, Kenneth and Belinda, arrived to pick up the children.

According to Tynise and her husband, Savage charged at the Sparks' SUV, and , an argument started between Savage and Joseph Sparks, punching the man in the chest.  When Sparks exited the vehicle, Eddie Savage Jr. reportedly pulled out a knife.  During the argument, Sparks' mother, who was reportedly intoxicated, also got out of the SUV and threw beer from a can she was drinking in he car, on Savage.

Savage was soon after taken into the house by someone there for a cook out, but not long after came back outside, this time, with a gun.  Joshua Sparks testified, Savage then fired three gun shots in his direction.

It was then revealed Kenneth Sparks, Joshua's father, apparently tried to diffuse the situation and was shot in the face, and killed, though Joshua says it was him, not his father, who was the intended target.

Both Tynise and Joshua Sparks testified they had never had problems with Eddie Savage Jr. regarding the children in the past.

In an opening statement, Savage's lawyer argued he had no intention of killing anyone that day.

Eddie Savage Jr. turned himself in after a 25-hour man hunt.

He is expected to testify at some point during the three day trial.
