Salisbury Man Accused Of Shooting At Horseback Riders

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man has been arrested, after allegedly firing a gun at two horseback riders.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says on Friday around 12:15 PM, a Deputy responded to Spring Hill Lane and met with two women, who said they were riding horses when, a man came out of a house with a rifle. According to the report the women quickly rode off, but heard two shots, which hit the woods nearby to where they were, making them think the man was intentionally shooting in their direction.

The Deputy found the man, 56-year-old Hiram Collins, outside of the home, and he reportedly explained that he wanted to scare the two riders from the property. Police say during their investigation the Deputy found the actual property owner, who had apparently given the women permission to ride their horses on the property.

Collins was arrested, and charged with two counts of 2nd degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
