US Wins Bronze In Team Event

Posted: Updated:

SOCHI, Russia (AP) - American figure skaters have won a bronze medal in the new team event at the Sochi Olympics. Their effort was led by world champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who won both the short and free dance, and helped by national champion Gracie Gold's second-place free skate.

Canada took the silver and Russia won the gold.

The U.S. now has four medals -- two gold and two bronze. Earlier today, U.S. snowboarder Jamie Anderson grabbed gold in the women's slopestyle, a day after Sage Kotsenburg did the same for the American men. Hannah Kearney (KAHR'-nee) picked up a bronze for the U.S. yesterday in women's moguls.

The U.S. shares second place in the overall medal count with the Netherlands, Canada and Russia. Norway has the most medals so far, seven.
