MD Panel To Examine Problems With Health Exchange

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A panel of Maryland lawmakers is scheduled to meet early next week to discuss ways to address the state's ongoing problems with its online health exchange.

Del. Peter Hammen, D-Baltimore, said Thursday the panel will meet every two to three weeks.

At the first meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, Hammen says the panel will focus on how to fix the exchange and a timeframe for putting solutions in place.

Hammen says lawmakers know some of the problems with the exchange won't be resolved before the end of open enrollment March 31. Alternatives for getting people enrolled also will be discussed.

Hammen says the meetings will led to a conversation that date about how the state proceeds to be ready for the next enrollment period, which begins Nov. 15.
