Larry Hogan Files For GOP Primary For Governor

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Republican Larry Hogan will use public campaign financing in the GOP primary race for governor of Maryland.

Hogan made the announcement on Monday as he formally filed to run for office with his running mate, Boyd Rutherford, in Annapolis.

To qualify for public funding for his campaign, Hogan will need to raise about $258,600 in contributions of $250 or less from individuals.

Hogan is running against Harford County Executive David Craig and Del. Ron George for the GOP nomination. Charles Lollar and Brian Vaeth also are running for the Republican nomination.

Hogan is the second candidate to use public financing in the governor's race. Democrat Heather Mizeur also is using the public financing option.
