In The Rafters: Hall Of Fame Wrestler Honored At HS

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Bennett High honors one of its former star athletes.

The Salisbury high school commemorated alumni Eddie Bailey with a banner commemorating his accomplishments. Bailey is a former wrestler at the high school and at Salisbury University.

Last year, he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Maryland Chapter. Back in 1979, Bailey became the first Sea Gull to capture a national championship in any sport.

"To get a banner here is a great honor," said Eddie Bailey. "I come here to referee a lot and I can always look up and know I went to this school, my father taught at this school."

"What I think everybody would know is that his heart as big as Texas," said Mike McInerney, a friend of Bailey. "He will give anybody the shirt off his back."
