SALISBURY, Md. - The delay is over: the window to file for an income tax return is now open.
This year, officials say the sixteen day government shutdown in October delayed the start, but that doesn't mean that delays the deadline on April 15th.
SHORE UP tells WMDT that 75 residents have already filed.
"We always tell the people coming here to be sure they have all their W-2s, all their 10-99s, any sort of tax document that they are expecting [from employers] because once you file, if something comes in later, you'll have to do an amendment," said Alicia Robinson, planning coordinator.
If you made $52,000 or less last year, you're eligible to sign up for free tax help. They're done by appointment only through April 12th at both the Wicomico and Somerset County sites. Robinson says appointments are set through February, but cancellations can happen at anytime.
