Maryland Parents Head To Annapolis To Protest Common Core

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Parents across Maryland are banding together to protest common core.

A group from Salisbury and Berlin, along with others across the state, headed to Annapolis today to protest the educational reforms. The protest was held prior to the Anne Arundel County Delegation's common core hearing.

Kimberlee Shaw, an Anne Arundel County parent, says the group started to get concerned after seeing a big change in the curriculum and their kids' feelings about school, especially those at the elementary level.

"Their brains can't process the way their mandating these teachers to teach this curriculum," says Shaw. "Kids are coming home in tears and don't want to go to school in the morning, and these are little kids, kids usually love to go to school when they're little."

The group says they are working with legislators to create bills to combat the reform. For more information on their efforts, visit their Facebook page.
