Jack Weprin, international kart racer, coming off an impressive 2013 with numerous podiums in the United States as well as very competitive showings in Europe and the UK, will be sporting new colors for 2104. Weprin, or “Frost” as he’s known by many, will be representing the PSL Factory Race Team in North America and CRG SPA in Europe in 2014.
The switch to the CRG chassis, with only a few days of testing has gone smoothly and Weprin looks comfortable and confident on track. Asked about the change, Weprin said “The CRG chassis requires a very different driving style than I was used to so I have quickly re-invented my style to better suit it. I have been taken by how far the CRG chassis can be pushed and how precisely it can be tuned. I am very excited to race on a kart that will allow me to push my limits. There may still be a bit of a learning curve ahead but I’m looking forward to exploring the performance characteristics of the chassis and capitalizing on it’s strengths and advantages. I’m especially excited and thankful to be working with such successful and experienced teams. I expect a great year of growth and development for myself, my teams and the CRG arsenal of equipment. In other words, an excellent year of racing!”.
The new partnerships are much more than a chassis change. For the first time in his short career Weprin will be a member of large professional cutting edge teams with the technology and expertise that comes with that. This is a valuable milestone for Weprin as his racing career develops and where increasingly races will be won by teams, not just by drivers.
Team Manager Andrew Campbell says “We are pleased to welcome Jack to the PSL Factory Race Team. In an era where the Rotax is the leading engine program, Jack will be a huge asset with the development of the chassis in an effort to improve the performance on the Mojo tire. It’s important to have drivers like Jack who are methodical in their race-craft. As well, Weprin will certainly be able to provide guidance for the younger drivers looking to improve their current skill set.”
Today Weprin will be competing in the qualifying rounds of the Florida Winter Tour Rotax Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway where he won the Formula Kart Series Championship as a Junior last year. Weprin is looking forward to racing in the United States, Canada and Europe in 2014.
