After Winter Storm, Blood Blank Needs Life Line

Posted: Updated:

DELMARVA - After snow and ice shut down much of the Eastern Shore this week, the Blood Bank Of Delmarva says there is a critical need for donations right now.

Each week, the organization says it needs 350 donors.  This week, after two schools and one corporation canceled their blood drives, there were only about 50 donations across Delmarva.

"There's never stockpiles of blood.  We always struggle to maintain the inventories," says Suzanne Murray, from the Blood Bank of Delmarva, "if anybody is out there and you missed your appointment this week, Saturday's a great opportunity to come in and make up for that. It's gonna be cold but...it's ok, it's warm in the blood bank and we have plenty of cookies."

The Salisbury location for the Blood Bank of Delmarva will be open tomorrow from 7:30am to 2:30pm.  Then, on the 28th and 29th, there will be a blood drive at the Ocean City Convention Center from 9am to 5pm.
