Officer Catches Robbery Suspect After Foot Chase

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a New Castle County officer caught a robbery suspect after a foot chase in Newark.
    
It happened about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at the 7-Eleven on East Chestnut Hill Road. Authorities say a masked man brandishing a BB gun entered and pointed it at a customer a clerk. Police say the man demanded cash and the clerk gave him money from the register.
    
After the robber ran away. Troopers and New Castle County police searched the area. A county officer saw a man matching the description of the suspect walking near the business, and caught him after a short foot chase.
    
Twenty-one-year-old Hampton J. Jones of Newark was arrested and charged with robbery.
