Easton Police Urging Residents To Practice Snow Safety

Posted: Updated:

EASTON, Md. - Easton Police say the town of Easton remains under "Snow Emergency Phase I" due to the recent winter weather.

Police say "Snow Emergency Phase I" requires vehicles traveling in Easton to be equipped with chains or tires permitted by the state for use during snow emergencies.

Authorities say since the start of the storm, they have responded to six car crashes and five disabled vehicles. As of 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning, Police say no other incidents have been reported.

To make sure all roads are plowed, Police are urging residents to use their driveways if they have one. Not using the driveway makes snow removal difficult. Also, Police say while shoveling snow, do not put the snow in the street or roadway. Finally, Police are asking residents not to drive on Wednesday unless necessary.

Because road conditions could keep residents from leaving their homes, Authorities are asking residents to check on your neighbors; especially seniors and those who may require special attention.
