Worcester Co. Volunteer Services And Liquor Control Hosts Food Drive

Posted: Updated:

WORCESTER CO., Md. - A local county is hosting a food drive to help those in need. Starting on January 27th, the Worcester County Volunteer Services and Liquor Control are hosting a canned food drive for the Maryland Food Bank. Canned food items can be dropped off in specially marked barrels at the following locations:

 · Worcester County Jail in Snow Hill
· Worcester County Branch Libraries: Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke
· All Department of Liquor Control Shore Spirit Retail Liquor Store locations
· Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill
· Central Landfill storage building in Newark
· Cape Isle of White Offices in Bishopville

Locations will be accepting donations until February 7th. Worcester County has the third highest food insecurity rate on the Eastern Shore, and those receiving food from the Maryland Food Band or its partner agencies never pay out of pocket for this assistance.

For more information about the Worcester County food drive, contact Volunteer Services Manager Kelly Brinkley at 410-632-0090. Organizations interested in hosting food drives are invited to contact MFB Managing Director Jennifer Small at small@mdfoodbank.org
