Man Chokes On Food, Leads To Three Vehicle Crash In Preston

Posted: Updated:

PRESTON, Md. - Maryland State Police say they responded to a three-vehicle crash early this morning.

According to reports, at approximately 6:33 AM, Joseph Eben Singer, 57, of Passadena, was traveling south on Dover Bridge Road near West View Road in Preston, when he began choking on food. This reportedly caused Singer to cross the solid double yellow line and strike a Red 2000 Ford Taurus, which was traveling north, on the driver's side. Police say this forced the Ford into a ditch on the north bound side of the road. Singer then allegedly struck a white Chevy Malibu, also driving north, on the driver's side, before striking a ditch on the north bound and eventually coming to rest.

Singer and the other male passenger in his car were reportedly not injured in the collision. The driver of the Ford and the Chevy were allegedly both injured and transported to Easton Memorial Hospital.

Police say Singer was issued appropriate citations.
