Three Teens Arrested After Vehicle Chase In Berlin

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md. - Police say they arrested three teens and located a stolen vehicle, after chasing an SUV through back roads of Worcester County on Friday.

Maryland State Police - Berlin say around 7:50 AM, a Trooper tried to stop a 2013 Cadillac Escalade for driving over the speed limit on Route 50, near Hall Road. According to the report, the driver turned onto Hall Road, and sped up, in an attempt to flee from the Trooper.

Police say the SUV continued winding through back roads at a high rate of speed, at one point exceeding 100 mph. Eventually, the driver apparently lost control of the Escalade on Murray Road, and hit a roadside ditch at Route 610. Police say the driver, and two other males got out of the SUV and tried to flee on foot, but were quickly apprehended by Troopers and Worcester County Sheriff's Deputies.

An investigation reportedly showed that the Escalade was stolen from a home in Queen Anne's County, along with a hunting-style rifle. The rifle was not found inside of the vehicle, according to Police, but prescription medication, trace amounts of suspected marijuana, and a Bowie-style knife were.

Police took the three juvenile males into custody, two 16-year-olds and one 14-year-old, and charged them all with theft of the motor vehicle, possession of the CDS, possession of a concealed deadly weapon, and multiple serious traffic offenses. All three were detained by the Department of Juvenile Services.
