SALISBURY, Md. - An employee at a local jail may now become an inmate, after he was charged with theft.

On Wednesday, The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation says the Wicomico County Detention Center contacted them because they thought an employee was stealing items from the Detention Center.

On Thursday, Detectives searched the home and vehicles of 37-year-old Arthur Byrd, of Salisbury, and reportedly recovered stolen items. Byrd was arrested while working at the Detention Center, and was charged with theft under $1000 and theft under $100. Additional charges are apparently pending. He was released to the district court commissioner for a bond review.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact the Wicomico Bureau of Investigations at 410-548-4898 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.
