Cambridge Police Warn Of Sweepstakes Scam

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - The Cambridge Police Department is warning residents of a scam in the Cambridge and Dorchester County area.

Someone is reported calls and says they're from the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, and tells residents they've won. The next step is for the "winners" to purchase a "Green Dot Money Pack" or other money card to collect their prize.

They are then asked for the card's numbers, which allows the scamers to steal the money off of it.

Any one who's contacted should notify police.
