WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington police say a 15-year-old boy was caught in gunfire and shot in the leg.

Investigators say the boy arrived at Wilmington Hospital just before 9 p.m. Friday. He told police he had been near Fourth and Adams streets in the West Center City neighborhood when he heard gunshots and tried to run away. He realized he had been shot after running about two blocks.

Police say the boy was in serious but stable condition on Saturday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing. The victim did not provide police any identifying information about the shooter.

The teen is the ninth person to be shot in Wilmington this year.
