Coyote Hunting Begins In Delaware

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - Open season for coyote hunting starts Saturday Jan. 11th in Delaware.

Officials estimate there are about 100 coyotes in the entire state.

The law allows for the animals to be hunted between September 1 and February 1, and DNREC is authorizing landowners to use certain firearms year-round on coyotes for human, live-stock, and pet safety.

Anyone who does kill a coyote is required to report it to DNREC within one business day, so that the agency can get a better idea of the coyote population in Delaware.

The number to call is  302-735-3600.
