How To Succeed In Business...Without Paying For Everything

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Getting a leg up in business can be difficult, but getting a leg up to go to business school, may be easier than you think.

The Delaware Association for Educational Office Professionals is once again offering three scholarships this year. DAEOP awards one scholarship per Delaware county, each worth $1,000.

There are a few specific qualifications. Teresa Price, of DAEOP, says "the student needs to be a graduating senior from a Delaware school, entering a business college, for a two-year degree."

Unlike some scholarships, the winner does not actually receive the money until after finishing one semester of college, while maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA. Teresa Craft's son is a past recipient, and she applauds the idea of delaying the payout. "It was an incentive for him to make sure he maintained his grades," says Teresa.

The one-time scholarship money is also awarded directly to the student, not the institution. The student can then spend that money at his or her discretion, whether for tuition, books, housing, et cetera.

In addition to the business-only criterion, applicants will need an official high school transcript, a recommendation from an administrator or counselor, and a "biographical profile," which is essentially a self-descriptive essay.

The deadline to apply is March 15th.

Applications are available online at www.daeop.net.
