Shuman Sentencing Scheduled For Friday

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Jasmine Shuman will learn her fate Friday for the June hit and run of then 5-year-old Jayln Shaw in Ocean City.

Shuman plead guilty in November to one count of "Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury" -- a felony.

Jayln was in a crosswalk at 19th Street when Shuman struck her, throwing her nearly 70 feet down Baltimore Avenue.

WMDT spoke with Jayln's mother, Erin Shaw, this summer.

"I thought she was dead," said Erin Shaw. "Now, our hope is that the legal system of Worcester county gives the maximum amount of justice to my Jayln."

Jayln continues her recovery. She celebrated her sixth birthday in July, and started first grade.
