DOVER, Del. - Police are looking for a suspect after the apparent attempted robbery of a child in Dover.
Delaware State Police say Troopers responded to the Scotch Pine Drive home, of an 8-year-old boy, after he told his mother that an unknown man approached him while he was walking home from a friend's house in Pinewood Acres.
According to the report, the young boy was approached by a black man near the intersection of Scotch Pine Drive and Loblolly Pine Drive around 5:15 PM on Wednesday. The man was apparently armed with a knife, and demanded money from the boy, and when he turned to run from the stranger, he lunged at the boy with the knife. Police say the victim was able to get away from the suspect and make it home safely, without being injured.
The suspect, described as a black male 30-40 years old, 6' -6' 2" tall, 150 - 180 pounds, wearing an all black jacket, black pants, and a black ski mask, was reportedly last seen getting into a white work van, with tinted windows, fleeing the area.
