Wind Chill Warnings Issued For Parts Of Virginia

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Temperatures in some parts of Virginia could feel like 30 degrees below zero Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued wind chill warnings from the Alleghany Highlands southeast to the Virginia Piedmont, including the Roanoke and New River valleys, and areas west of the Blue Ridge. The warnings are in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

Below-zero temperatures and wind gusts could result in wind chills of minus 30 degrees in these areas.

Central Virginia, South Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and the Northern Neck could see wind chills between 5 degrees and minus 10 degrees. Temperatures are expected to be in the teens and single digits.

Two to 5 inches of snow is expected by Monday evening in Tazewell and Smyth counties in Southwest Virginia.
