Freezing Rain Coats Bridges In Northern Del.

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Drivers in northern Delaware have been dealing with treacherous conditions resulting from freezing rain.

The Delaware Department of Transportation advised New Castle County residents to stay off the roads Sunday morning because of ice coating numerous roads and bridges. The state is applying salt throughout the county.

The Roth Bridge on Delaware Route 1 was closed for more than an hour Sunday morning.

Temperatures were predicted to increase throughout the day and were hovering above freezing shortly before noon.

DelDOT says those who choose to drive should use extreme caution and watch for black ice and other dangerous conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.
