Tips To Protect Your Pet In Severe Weather

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - With the severe weather hitting our region, there are a lot of ways to protect yourself, home and even your cars. But, you shouldn't forget about your four-legged friends.

WMDT checked in with local experts who say you should only allow pets outside to relieve themselves - and bring them back inside immediately.  And animals that don't have a heated outdoor home should be kept inside.

Frostbite can be a big problem with freezing temperatures, so check your pet's paws. If they look red or black and feel frozen, they could be affected.  Wrap your pet in a warm towel or blanket from the dryer and bring them into an emergency care center immediately.
