WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware state and county government offices and public schools are closed after a winter storm dumped three to seven inches of snow around the state.
The National Weather Service posted gale warnings in effect along the coast and parts of the Delaware Bay through Friday evening. Winter storm warnings remain in effect statewide. Sussex County received about three inches of snow and four to seven inches fell around the rest of the state.
Officials warn that though crews have been working to clear primary roads, some aren't clear.
Gov. Jack Markell says people who don't need to travel are encouraged to stay home to give crews room to work. He says state offices are closed, but other employers should evaluate when their facilities will be safe and road conditions.
