WMDT 47 NEWS - As the snow system moves on the Delmarva Peninsula, roads may start to freeze and conditions worsen.
DelDOT tells WMDT, workers were out all day Thursday, retreating roads and applying salt. In Kent County, we're told trucks will be out all night long. As for Sussex County, trucks took a break for most of the evening and will pick back up overnight.
"Our drivers tell us the biggest hazard they face when they're out pushing snow is traffic because they won't be very careful around the cars. So vehicles need to stay well back of any truck that's putting down salt. If you get too close it affects how the salt is applied to the roads," says DelDOT's Jim Westhoff.
As always, officials urge anyone planning to get on the road tonight, to drive slowly and cautiously.
