Medical Emergency Leads To Drug Charges For Three In Long Neck

LONG NECK, Del. - Three brothers were charged on Thursday, after Police discovered a marijuana growing operation during a medical emergency at their home in Long Neck.

Delaware State Police say EMS were called to a home on the 26000 block of Cattail Lane, for a possible overdose, and found a marijuana grow operation and a handgun on a fireplace mantle. Responding Troopers reportedly secured the scene, and got a search warrant, before searching the home, while 24-year-old Zachary Zimmer was rushed to Beebe Medical Center for a possible Fentanyl ingestion.

During a search of the home, Troopers say they found over 94 grams of marijuana, growing equipment, various drug paraphernalia, and fireworks. 32-year-old Kyle Zimmer and 29-year-old Trevor Zimmer were both arrested at the home. According to the report, Trevor was with his brother Zachary, when he started scratching off the Fentanyl from a patch, which is prescribed to Trevor, and then started smoking it, which led to the overdose.

Officials say Zachary is in stable condition at Beebe Medical and is being guarded by officers from the department of corrections.

All three brothers were charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, manufacturing a controlled substance - marijuana, possession of marijuana, 4 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of fireworks. Kyle was additionally charged with maintaining a drug property. He is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $20,500 bond. Trevor was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance - lidocaine. He is being held at SCI on $19,000 bond. Zachary is committed to the Department of Corrections on $18,000 bond.
