Noel Community Holds 16th Annual Christmas Dinner In OC

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Despite the tragic fire at Saint Paul's By The Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City, the Noel Community still held their annual Christmas dinner today.

Over the past 15 years, volunteers served dinner in the church, but this year they came up with the idea to do it at City Hall, right across from Saint Paul's By The Sea.

The group handed out bags of pre-cooked food, including ham, turkey, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, and potatoes, and also distributed breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and coffee.

Volunteers say this year, the free dinner is in memory of Pastor David Dingwall, who was tragically killed in the fire.

"It's been extremely difficult and emotional month for the planning committee because of course we had to do this at the end, but also, we were incredibly sad to lose Father David," says Katie Coffman, volunteer with the Noel Community. "He was incredibly supportive of the Noel community."

Coffman says they hope to be back in the church for the annual dinner next year, but they were glad to serve the dinner close to the church this Christmas.
