Shop-With-A-Cop Program Grants Gifts To 10 In Easton

Posted: Updated:

EASTON, Md. - Two local police forces teamed up to brighten the holidays for some school children. The Easton Police Department along with the Talbot County Sheriff's Department, participated in the Shop-With-a-Cop program, and provided ten children with an extra special holiday experience.

Each child was paired up with an officer and driven to Walmart in a patrol vehicle, they then each got escorted around the store, while they selected their items. Once the officers purchased the items for the kids, the group headed to a Chick-Fil-A lunch at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, where they also wrapped all of their gifts. Officers and the kids then played on the Easton Elementary School playground, while they waited for their parents.

The Shop-With-A-Cop program was brought to Easton, under the leadership of the Talbot Optimist Club. Easton Police Department used $500, received earlier in the year from the Easton Rotary International "Flags for Heroes" fund raiser, to sponsor five children for this program.
