Police Investigate Eight Weather Related Traffic Accidents In Worcester Co.

Posted: Updated:

WORCESTER CO., Md. - The weather apparently caused quite a few traffic accidents in Northern Worcester County on Wednesday morning.

Maryland State Police and Worcester County Sheriff's Office say between 6:00 and 8:00 AM, they investigated eight motor vehicle collisions involving "black" ice; five of which happened on Route 90 between Rout 113 and Route 346. The incidents caused State Highway Administration to shutdown Route 90, for about an hour, while crews worked to melt to the ice on the roadway.

Police say no severe injuries were reported during any of the eight crashes.

Officials are reminding drivers to use caution while driving when temperatures drop to freezing or below, and that overpasses generally freeze before other road surfaces. Motorists should take precautions when roadways appear wet, according to officials.
