Naming Rights: Vienna School Wins "Just Zoo It"

Posted: Updated:

VIENNA, Md. - If you were in charge of naming a zoo animal, what would you go with?

Students at Vienna Elementary School now have a chance to name a wallaby at the Salisbury Zoo. The fifth grade class were surprised on Tuesday after finding out they were the top donators to the "Just Zoo It" competition.

The class will be awarded with an assortment of gifts including all-expense paid trip to the Salisbury Zoo with a VIP tour and the all-important pizza party.

"I basically found loose change around the house," fifth grader Alison Layton said.

"Just seeing the excitement on the faces is so awesome to let them experience something like that," said teacher Melissa Haugh.

Fifth-grader Blaine Oates says if he was allowed to name the wallaby, he would name it "Crazy Wallaby."

More than $33,000 was raised this year for capital improvement projects at the Zoo.
