Trooper Involved Crash Under Investigation In Milford

Posted: Updated:

MILLSBORO, Del. - A Milford woman had to be rushed to the hospital, after reportedly hitting a Police Cruiser on Tuesday morning in Milford.

Delaware State Police say 55-year-old Kathleen Jester was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo on the newly constructed SR30 exit ramp, onto Southbound SR1, when apparently made an abrupt lane change, trying to get to Lady Slipper Lane. According to the report, she didn't see a DSP Trooper in a full marked Ford Crown Victoria, driving in the left lane of SR1, and hit the Cruiser.

The collision caused the police cruiser to spin clockwise onto a grass median, while the Aveo also spun clockwise, and stopped in the Southbound lane. Jester who was wearing a seat belt, had to be removed from the scene by EMS, was taken the Milford Memorial Hospital, and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. She was cited for improper lane change. The 35-year-old Trooper was wearing a seat belt, and was not injured in the crash.

SR1 Southbound between South Rehoboth Boulevard and Johnson Road was closed for around three hours while the crash investigated and cleared. The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are continuing their investigation into this incident.
