MOUNT VERNON, Md. - A Monday night fire in Mount Vernon, that caused more than $220,000 in damages, is under investigation.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the fire started just after 10:00 PM, at a property at 27340 Mt. Vernon Road, and involved a one story poultry house, a one story out building, and a school bus.

26 firefighters from four fire departments reportedly responded to the one alarm blaze, but the fire was apparently not placed under control. Officials say at this time, both the area of origin and preliminary cause are under investigation. Total damages are estimated at $225,000.
