Berlin: Coolest Town In America?

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md - A local small town is getting some big national attention.

Berlin came in third for the opening round of Budget Travel's "America's Coolest Small Town" campaign.

National voting started in October, with people nominating small towns across the country that they thought were the "coolest."

"we were the only small town in Maryland that made it to the top fifteen, so we deemed ourselves the coolest small town in Maryland," said Main Street Coordinator Megan Houston.

Officials are excited about the prospect of being the coolest town in the country. Houston says there's a good chance they'll win because the town has what contest organizers are looking for.

"The contest is for a town that was unique, had some history, has cool food, shops, great locals," she said. "I really think Berlin has all of that."

Polls reopen in mid-January with the top 15 finalists, and wraps up in mid-February with their top 10 winners.
