Eastern Shore States Ranked Middle Of Pack For Health

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - New rankings by the United Health Foundation place Delaware in the bottom half of the nation's healthiest states.

The First State came in 31st despite improving in certain areas. Binge drinking decreased from 20.3 percent of adults to 18.6 percent. And immunizations remain high for children and adolescents.

But other challenges remain. Infant mortality and violent crime rates are each the fifth highest in the country.

Maryland and Virginia ranked 24th and 26th, respectively. Hawaii takes the top spot as the healthiest state, and Mississippi comes in last.
