LAUREL, Del. - The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit says they are currently investigating a home invasion that occurred east of Laurel late last night.

According to reports, troopers responded to the 16000 block of Pepperbox Road around 11:45 Friday evening after a 9-1-1 call was placed from the residence stating three subjects had just broken into the house.

The investigation reportedly revealed three black males forcibly entered the rear door to the home and confronted a 26-year-old female victim in her bedroom.  Police say the suspects demanded money from the female and when she informed them she did not have any, one of the suspects fired a round into the bed.  The victim reportedly turned over some jewelry before the three left the residence with two laptop computers and a cell phone.  As they were leaving, one of the suspects again allegedly fired a round in the house striking a dresser in the bedroom.

Police say the female victim was uninjured in the incident along with her three young children who were sleeping in a separate part of the house. One suspect is described as a black male, between 5'09" and 5'11" tall, between 170 and 180 pounds, between 23 and 26 years of age, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and a black cloth around the bottom portion of his face. He was reportedly armed with unknown type handgun. Another suspect is described as a black male, between 6'00" and 6'02" tall, between 230 and 250 pounds, with a heavy build, wearing a black knit hat with a grey hood of a sweatshirt pulled over the top of his head.

If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to contact Detective R. Mears at 302-856-5850 ext. 255 or by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
