Thousands Of Toys Stuff The Bus For Toys For Tots

Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - There are a number of toy drives going on across Delmarva, hoping to give needy children a Christmas they wouldn't ordinarily have, but few are like the 12 Days of Christmas drive put on by Petch and Paula from Eagle 97.7.

Thanks to community donations over the past 12 days, Petch and Paula literally stuffed a 30 foot long bus in the Schell Brothers parking lot on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach.  They collect more than 50 bikes, 60 coats, and thousands of toys, headed to kids in and around Sussex County through Toys for Tots.

As volunteers began to moved items off the bus, the pair said "people donating have been walking in this bus and all they keep going is 'wow'."

WMDT spoke to Chris Schell, President of Schell Brothers builders, who partnered with Petch and Paula, said "there are families out there that aren't able to give their children the Christmas that they deserve to have and if we can help make that happen and contribute.  We're happy to do it"

We're told the marines who came to pick up everything for toys for tots said they had never seen that many toys in one place.
